Now that I have a Galaxy Nexus I can finally play with this NFC tag sticker I got at last year's I/O
NFC is so much fun to play with. We've been toying with ideas of an NFC-based scoring system for ping pong at the office.
Damn, Tasker is expensive! Good thing I got that $25 Google Play credit with my Nexus 7…
+Michael Grasser Thanks for recommending us!
Nice! I was looking forward to playing with my Clipper card, but it seems only the newer ones work, my old Translink card wont communicate with the phone
I guess the readers in the BART stations have a stronger antenna or something.
There's a really useful NFC tag programming app I've been using…I'll get you the name when my phone charges. It let's you do whatever, including custom tags. Really handy.
Cool! I installed NXP TagWriter, since it was linked on the website the tag was already programmed with
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jwsoft.nfcactionlauncher&hl=en is a great app to mess with that. I think this integrates with Tasker as well.
Ha that's the one, I just linked it in another post. Great app.
Yeah this is sweet! Is there a way to make it run a task when the tag is removed too? I'm tempted to stick the sticker to the dock on my nighstand to have it mute the ringer, but I'd like it to unmute again when I undock the phone
+Sam Steele - I don't think so :/ Let me know if you find a way though. Other methods of docks use magnets, but this seems to just trigger then. I think there's a way in NFC Task Launcher to have it act like an on and off switch, but it wouldn't be a universal thing; Your phone would be the only one to have that specific on and off action.
Hmm I guess I might have to use Tasker. My dock has the magnets to enter/leave docked mode, I just wanted an easy way to tie the volume to that action
If you get anymore tags, I recommend +NFC Tags for Droid for good quality tags. I accidentally bought a handful of lower quality ones, and they're not even working anymore.
I agree with +Michael Grasser. I bought some from tagstand and some of them don't work anymore. Not sure why they don't work, but that's what happened. +NFC Tags for Droid stated before that they have higher capacity storage than the competitor too.
lol +Sam Steele, it didn't used to be that expensive. I purchased that a long time ago. Good investment if you don't forget to restore your tasks after a lot of flashing haha. I currently don't use it, but I should.
+Sam Steele thanks to the idea from +Evan Charlton we are going to add NFC support to Timer so you can tap real world objects and start a timer.
+Michael Novak very cool!
