The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
I’ve recently started playing The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap on my RG351V. Really enjoying it so far!
I tried to play it a few years ago on my Nintendo 3DS, but I really prefer this vertical form factor. It feels more like an original GameBoy or GBA SP, and RetroAchievements is really nice to have.
Plus, this handheld runs Linux, so I set a cron job to automatically back up the save RAM over WiFi 😎

ESPHome Garden Monitor
Over the weekend, I converted my garden monitoring microcontroller from #MicroPython to #ESPHome.
The controller is a M5StickC-Plus with temperature, humidity, air pressure sensors, and IR thermometer attached via I²C. The button on the front records the timestamp when plant food is added. #HomeAssistant adjusts the LCD backlight automatically using a nearby Zigbee motion sensor.

ESPHome makes it much easier to add additional sensors in the future, I’ve already got a few ideas already! I was hoping it could work as a Bluetooth proxy for #HomeAssistant too, however the device doesn’t have enough RAM to run the display, WiFi, and Bluetooth scanner at the same time.

I’ve been using HelloFresh for a few weeks, it’s been really interesting! I wont continue using their delivery service after the Black Friday discount ends, but I’ll keep making some of these recipes with ingredients from the supermarket instead.
